Who: Teens, ages 14-17.
What: DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) psychoeducational skills group that teaches core mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Please note: This is a skills group; not an intensive DBT program.
Please read therapist Nicole Kerr's writing about What is DBT?
When: Wednesdays: January 13th through March 14th, 2018 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
Where: Sentier Psychotherapy
670 Cleveland Ave. S.
St. Paul, MN 55116
(Highland Park neighborhood: Above Highgrove Dental; next to CorePower Yoga; across the street from Cecil's Deli).
Why: So that teens can learn to identify thinking patterns that often lead to extreme emotions, impulsiveness and self-destructive behavior. Group will teach coping skills that can be used to control thoughts, tolerate distress and effectively communicate with others.
How: If you have a teen who is interested in participating in this group, please email Nicole Kerr at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 763.913.8261 x3 to schedule an intake session. Intake session must be completed one week prior to group starting.
Fees: $75 per group session. Client is charged for missed sessions, as group attendance is critical. Insurance reimbursement receipts can be provided if requested.
*Please note that this is not a full, DBT intensive program. The group does not include individual weekly therapy with a DBT therapist or phone coaching calls between sessions. This is a psychoeducational group that has been condensed into 10 weeks and does not cover every DBT skill.
